The bands below are indicative Galvanized Iron (GI) pipe prices for orders placed in May 2026, conforming to IS 1239 (Part 1):2004 with hot-dip galvanized finish. GI pipes are hot-dip galvanized MS ERW pipes — the zinc coating adds corrosion resistance and typically commands a 15–25% premium over equivalent black MS pipes, depending on current zinc prices and coating thickness.
Prices are quoted per kilogram (₹/kg), ex-warehouse Kanpur, exclusive of GST (18%). The range accounts for variations in zinc cost, mill source, pipe class, and order quantity. For a firm delivered-cost quotation, submit your BOQ through our RFQ form.

Factors Affecting GI Pipe Pricing
Zinc Cost Premium
GI pipes are hot-dip galvanized in molten zinc. Zinc is an LME-traded commodity whose price fluctuates weekly. Since zinc coating adds 80–120 g/m² per class, even small zinc price swings shift finished GI pipe costs by ₹2–5/kg.
Raw Coil Cost
The base MS ERW pipe is made from HR coils. Coil prices from SAIL, JSW, and Tata change weekly based on global iron ore, coking coal costs, and domestic demand. This is the second-largest variable in GI pipe pricing after zinc.
Pipe Class (Light / Medium / Heavy)
IS 1239 defines three weight classes. Heavy class pipes have thicker walls and more zinc surface area, using more steel and zinc per meter. The class you need depends on your application pressure and load requirements.
Quantity & Order Pattern
Volume discounts kick in at 5 MT. Regular repeat buyers benefit from contract pricing. Full truckload orders (9 MT for local, 20–30 MT for interstate) save on freight per kg.
Mill Source & Brand
Premium mills (APL Apollo, Tata) typically price 3–8% higher than regional mills. The premium buys better galvanizing uniformity, dimensional consistency, and documentation.
Delivery Destination
Ex-Kanpur pricing excludes freight. Transport to UP cities adds ₹1–3/kg; Bihar/MP adds ₹3–5/kg; Delhi NCR adds ₹2–4/kg. Full truckloads are significantly cheaper per kg than part loads.
