IBR Compliance Note

Boiler tubes used inside pressure parts in India require IBR certification under the Indian Boiler Regulations, 1950. The prices below include the IBR premium where applicable. All IBR-stamped tubes come with Form III-C documentation.

Per ASME SA192/SA210/SA213, the bands below are indicative boiler-quality seamless tube prices for orders placed in May 2026, covering ASME SA192, SA210 Grade A1, and SA210 Grade C. These grades are the workhorses of Indian power plant boilers, sugar mill installations, and industrial steam generators.

All prices are per kilogram (₹/kg), ex-warehouse Kanpur, exclusive of GST (18%). IBR-stamped tubes carry a 15–25% premium over non-IBR seamless tubes. We source from ISMT (Pune), Jindal SAW, and Maharashtra Seamless. For a firm quote, submit your RFQ.

Understanding the IBR Premium

What Drives the Premium?

IBR-stamped tubes require third-party inspection during manufacturing, additional destructive and non-destructive testing, heat-number traceability, and documentation (Form III-A at the mill, Form III-C with every dispatch). These steps add 15–25% to the base tube cost.

Grade Comparison: SA192 vs SA210

SA192 is a low-carbon grade for low/medium-pressure boilers (up to ~350°C). SA210 offers higher tensile strength and temperature limits — Grade A1 for standard service, Grade C for higher-pressure applications. The grade you need is specified in your boiler's engineering drawings and ASME code calculations.

Need SA213 T11/T22 Alloy Tubes?

Chrome-moly alloy tubes (T11: 1.25Cr-0.5Mo, T22: 2.25Cr-1Mo) are available on indent from ISMT. Lead time: 4–6 weeks. Contact us for alloy pricing →

Frequently Asked Questions

What does IBR-certified mean for boiler tubes?
IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) certification means the tubes have been manufactured, tested, and documented under the supervision of an IBR inspector. The Form III-C certificate confirms compliance with the Boiler Act. This is mandatory for any tube used inside a boiler pressure part in India.
What is the price premium for IBR-stamped tubes?
IBR-stamped boiler tubes typically carry a 15–25% premium over non-IBR seamless tubes of the same grade. The premium covers the cost of third-party inspection, documentation (Form III-A/C), and the restricted mill qualification process.
What is the difference between SA210 Grade A1 and Grade C?
Both grades are carbon steel boiler tubes. Grade C has higher carbon content (0.35% max vs 0.27% for A1), giving it higher tensile strength (485 MPa vs 415 MPa). Grade C is used for higher-pressure applications but costs more due to tighter metallurgical controls.
Do you supply SA213 T11 or T22 alloy tubes?
Yes. SA213 T11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) and T22 (2.25Cr-1Mo) alloy boiler tubes are available on indent from mills like ISMT. These are speciality grades with 4–6 week lead times. Contact us with your required OD, WT, and quantity for pricing.
What documentation comes with boiler tubes?
Every boiler tube dispatch includes: Mill Test Certificate (MTC) with chemical and mechanical test results, IBR Form III-C (for IBR-stamped tubes), heat number traceability, and dimensional inspection report.
