Pick the grade from the engineering drawing, design calculation and ITP. A generic plant or mill-duty label is not enough.

All our prices are per kilogram (₹/kg), ex-warehouse Kanpur, exclusive of the legally applicable tax stated on the current quotation. IBR-related cost varies with grade, dimensions, heat availability, inspection scope, testing and the applicable certificate. There is no universal percentage uplift. Understanding the IBR Premium

The Right Buyers for Boiler Tubes in Kanpur

You should write the RFQ from the drawing, not from a district label. If you are buying water-wall or economiser sizes in Panki, you should name SA210 Gr A1 or Gr C, or SA213 T11 or T22 for superheater bundles, only when those grades appear on the approved drawing and ITP, and list the required stage-wise checks. A Dada Nagar process-heater or waste-heat-recovery enquiry should copy the specified SA192 (or other grade), OD and wall. A Jajmau process-steam replacement enquiry should send the drawing-specified tube, quantity and shutdown need-by date. One shutdown RFQ does not open a standing account.

If you send a shutdown RFQ from Lalitpur, Mahoba, Bijnor, Maharajganj, or another Bundelkhand or central-UP mill site, you should work backwards from the need-by date. Boiler Tube RFQ Checklist: What Your PO Must State

A boiler-tube PO is a legal document for the boiler file. Missing lines stall the inspector visit, not just the dispatch.

• OD with wall thickness: outside diameter and exact wall in mm, since boiler tubes are ordered by OD, not NB.
• Grade: SA192, SA210 Gr A1, SA210 Gr C, or the SA213 alloy grade from the engineering drawing.
• IBR requirement: whether the offered tube heat needs applicable IBR status, Form III-B and the project's document schedule.
• Condition: as-drawn, normalised, or tempered, and the heat-treatment certificate where the drawing calls for it.
• Test papers: MTC with chemistry and mechanicals, dimensional report, and heat-number traceability.
• Inspection: the ITP stages a named TPI agency will witness, from mill run through loading at the point stated in the quotation.
• Delivery basis: ex-warehouse Kanpur, tax as stated on the current quotation, shutdown-calendar delivery date, freight to the named site if quoted.

Worked Example: Budgeting an Economiser Bundle in SA210 A1

Take the common economiser size of 50.8 mm OD with a 3.6 mm wall. The site weight formula, (OD minus wall) times wall times 0.02466, gives (50.8 minus 3.6) times 3.6 times 0.02466, which is 4.19 kg per metre. The SA210 A1 band for this size is Rs 118 to Rs 142 per kg, so each metre costs about Rs 494 to Rs 595 ex-warehouse Kanpur before the legally applicable tax. A 6 m tube therefore lands at about Rs 2,967 to Rs 3,570.

Scale to a small bundle of 50 tubes at 6 m: 300 m of tube weighs 1,257 kg, or about 1.26 MT. The bundle budget becomes about Rs 1.48 lakh to Rs 1.78 lakh before the legally applicable tax and freight stated on the current quotation. Treat that result as a budgeting comparison, not a grade-selection shortcut. Normalise both offers to the same OD, wall, material grade, heat-treatment condition, IBR stamping, tube length, inspection hold points and delivery basis before you compare per-kilogram rates. Ask each supplier to mark line-by-line exceptions against the drawing and ITP. An offer that excludes an inspection stage, a test document or a freight item is not like-for-like with one that includes it.

Common Procurement Mistakes on Boiler Tube Orders

• Ordering by NB instead of OD. Boiler tubes trade on OD with wall thickness. An NB callout invites the wrong tube to site.
• Assuming an A106 offer carries the boiler dossier. Before you order, match the drawing-specified grade, applicable IBR status, tests and the tube Form III-B requirement.
• Mixing grades in one bundle. SA192 and SA210 look identical on the rack. Segregate heats and mark bundles before dispatch.
• Leaving alloy supply condition open. State the SA213 grade, heat-treatment condition, tests and ITP. Ask the mill offer to confirm its actual dispatch estimate.
• Ignoring the shutdown need-by date. Separate available heats from mill-procurement lines. Add inspection, document review, transport and site receiving to the schedule.

Standards and Compliance: SA192, SA210, SA213 and IBR Forms

ASME SA192 and SA210 cover seamless carbon-steel boiler and superheater tubes within the scopes printed in their current editions. Grade A1 and Grade C under SA210 differ in the carbon and tensile limits of that edition. SA213 covers chrome-moly alloy grades such as T11 and T22 when the drawing names them. For an applicable IBR supply, use the certificate for the supplied component. Form III-B is the manufacture-and-test certificate for tubes. Form III-A covers pipes / steam piping. List the OD, wall, grade, quantity, need-by date and delivery PIN.
