Borewell pipe selection depends on the bore design, casing function, soil and groundwater conditions, diameter, wall thickness, depth, jointing method, and whether plain or slotted sections are required. The drilling or engineering specification should define the final product requirement before purchase.
Start with the bore design
State the bore diameter, casing or screen function, planned depth, section lengths and site conditions. A generic “borewell pipe” description is not enough to determine the correct dimensions or section type.
Separate plain casing from slotted or screen sections
Plain and slotted sections perform different functions in a bore. If slots or perforations are required, specify their pattern, dimensions, open-area requirement and placement from the approved bore design rather than assuming a standard configuration.
Define dimensions and joints
- OD or nominal size and wall thickness or product class.
- Required length per piece and total quantity.
- Threaded, coupled, welded, plain-end, or other joint requirement.
- Coating, galvanizing, marking, or corrosion-protection requirement where applicable.
Include site and delivery information
- Delivery city or PIN code and access constraints for the drilling site.
- Required delivery date and whether material is needed in stages.
- Any certificate, inspection, marking, or test-document requirement.
- Project or consultant specification where one controls the purchase.
